NBP Cashier arrested for stealing Rs. 5.5 Million

Ghulam Shabbir, son of Shamsuddin Mahar, was working as a cashier (OG-II) at the NBP Ghotki branch.

He was arrested for misappropriating Rs5.5 million by manipulating the records in the bank’s cashbook and the State Bank of Pakistan’s currency chest book during the time he worked in the branch.

Later on, the accused admitted his guilt before the bank officials and gave back Rs1.5 million. He promised to pay back the remaining amount within six months but he was unable to. NAB Sindh director-general Major (retired) Shabbir Ahmed issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the accused.
